Getting started

What is YWGSD?

A calendar that plans your tasks for you. Jot things down whenever they come to you, give each one a length and a priority, and YWGSD books it into a real gap around your meetings. When your day changes, it rebuilds the plan, so you don’t have to.

Who is it for?

Anyone with more to do than hours to do it in, and more than one thing on the go. Work, a side business, classes and home all live in one plan, and each can keep to its own hours. It’s for one person: there are no teams or shared projects.

How long does it take to set up?

A few minutes. The first run asks when you usually get work done, connects your calendars, then has you jot down three real things and give them the once-over, so you watch your own tasks land on your calendar.

Do I need to connect a calendar?

It’s best with one, so your work goes around your meetings. Without one, everything else works, but YWGSD can’t see the time you’ve already given away.

Does YWGSD use AI?

No. Where your tasks land is worked out by fixed rules, from your calendar, your hours, and the lengths, priorities and deadlines you gave them. Same calendar in, same plan out, every time.

How it plans your day

How does it decide when I do things?

From what you tell it. Each task has a length and a priority, and can have a deadline. ASAP takes the next opening, High goes before other work, Medium is normal, and Low fills the room that’s left. Tasks only land inside the hours you set, and never on top of a meeting.

What happens when my day changes?

It rebuilds. A meeting lands, moves or cancels, something urgent comes up, or you finish early, and your work moves to fit. You don’t re-plan anything.

What if I don’t finish something?

It moves to your next opening and stays in front of you until you finish it or cancel it. If it’s past its deadline, it turns amber. Got partway? Enough for today asks how much is left, and brings the rest back later.

What if I fall behind for a week?

Nothing’s lost, and there’s nothing to untangle. Everything you didn’t get to moves into your next openings, inside your hours, most important first. Anything past its deadline turns amber until you do it or cancel it. If the whole week’s gone sideways, Reschedule all starts it over in one go.

How long does the once-over take?

About a minute for three things. Each one gets a length and a priority, two taps, and then it’s booked. Once a day or once a week works best, and YWGSD can put the time for it on your calendar.

Can I put something at a set time?

Yes. Pin to a time fixes a task where you put it, and everything else plans around it.

What’s the difference between a deadline and a hard deadline?

A deadline is a target: miss it and the task turns amber and keeps rolling. A hard deadline has to be met, so YWGSD may book that task outside your usual hours to make the date, and the block says when it has.

Can tasks repeat?

Yes, on any rhythm, down to “every 9 days”. You choose what a missed one means: catch it up, or let it go and wait for the next.

Can I keep work and personal separate?

Yes, with separate sets of hours: say, work Monday to Friday, 9 to 5, and personal things on weekend afternoons. Each task belongs to one set and only ever gets booked inside it.

What’s the once-over?

The quick pass that turns what you’ve jotted down into scheduled work. For each thing, two questions: how long will it take, and how important is it? Once a day or once a week works best, and a handful of things takes about a minute. YWGSD can book the time for it and remind you.

Calendars and privacy

Which calendars work with it?

Google Calendar, Outlook and iCloud, and as many accounts as you use. You choose which calendars block your time. iCloud asks for an app-specific password, which Apple lets you make for exactly this.

Does YWGSD change my calendar?

No. It reads your calendars and never writes to them. Your meetings stay exactly where they are, and nothing there gets created, changed or deleted.

Does anything show up on my work calendar?

No. YWGSD reads your calendars to find the gaps and never writes to them, so nobody sees blocks from it. Your plan lives in YWGSD, on the web and on your phone.

Why don’t my tasks show up in Google or Outlook?

Because YWGSD never writes to your calendar. Your planned work lives in YWGSD, on the web and on your phone, laid out around the meetings it reads.

What happens to my data?

It’s used to plan your time, and for nothing else. Your calendar is read, never written, and never sold. The privacy policy names every company that handles part of running YWGSD, and how to get your data deleted.

Pricing and billing

How much does it cost?

After a 14-day free trial, $24 a month, or $192 a year ($16 a month). Every plan includes everything. Founding members pay $149 a year, and keep that price for as long as they stay subscribed. See pricing.

What’s the founding price?

$149 a year, for people who join by December 31. It stays $149 for as long as your subscription runs. If you cancel and come back later, you pay the price at that time.

Is there a free plan?

No, but the 14-day trial is the whole product, not a cut-down version. That’s long enough to watch a real week rebuild itself.

Why do I need a card for the trial?

So nothing stops when the trial ends. You’re not charged during it, we email you 3 days before the first charge, and cancelling before then means you’re never charged at all.

What happens when the trial ends?

Your plan starts, and renews until you cancel. We email you 3 days before the first charge, with the amount. Before a yearly plan renews, you get a reminder too.

How do I cancel?

On the web: Settings, then Cancel subscription, one click, no form. You keep everything until the end of what you’ve paid for. If you subscribed in the iPhone app, Apple takes that payment, so you cancel with Apple: Manage subscription in Settings takes you there.

Should I pay on the website or in the iPhone app?

Either works, and it’s the same account with everything included. On the website you pay through Stripe, and Refund my first payment in Settings is yours within 7 days. In the iPhone app you pay through Apple, who handle cancelling and refunds, and the App Store shows its own prices, which can be a cent under the website’s.

Can I get a refund?

Within 7 days of your first charge on the web, Settings has Refund my first payment. It sends the money back and ends the subscription, once per account. For App Store purchases, refunds are Apple’s decision, and Request a refund in Settings takes you to them. The billing promise has the details.

I have a discount code. Where does it go?

There’s a box for it at checkout, on the website.

The iPhone app

Is there an iPhone app?

Yes, and it’s on its way to the App Store. Until it’s there, YWGSD runs in the browser on your phone or computer, and the same account and plan work in the app when it lands.

Can I jot something down without opening the app?

On the iPhone, yes. Settings → Quick capture opens YWGSD's page in the Shortcuts app: add Jot it down to your Home Screen or the Action Button, and it goes straight to your Inbox. It answers to Siri too, and to “Jot it down” typed into Spotlight. On a computer, open the web app and type into the Inbox — the field is the first thing on the page.

Is there an Android app?

No. YWGSD works in the browser on any phone, and it’s built to be used there.

Your account

How do I sign in?

With your email. We send a six-digit code, you type it in, and you’re in. There’s no password to remember, and the same code works in the iPhone app.

What happens to my tasks if I cancel?

They stay put. When the time you’ve paid for runs out, the app locks, but your tasks, hours and calendar connections are kept, and they’re all there if you subscribe again. To remove everything for good, use Delete my account in Settings.

How do I delete my account?

Settings → Account → Delete my account, then type your address to confirm. It removes the account and everything in it straight away, on every device, for good. It ends a website subscription at the same time, with no refund for the time that’s left, so if you’re within 7 days of your first charge, refund it first. Subscribed in the iPhone app? Deleting doesn’t stop Apple charging you, so cancel that first.

Can I share it with my team or family?

No. YWGSD is for one person and their own time. There’s no sharing, and no team plan.

When something's not right

My sign-in code hasn’t arrived.

Check your spam folder first, since that’s usually where it is. The code is six digits, lasts an hour and works once. If you ask for another within a minute of the last, you’ll be asked to wait: that clears on its own.

My calendar stopped syncing.

Google, Outlook and iCloud sometimes stop accepting a connection. On the web, Settings → Connected calendars shows Reconnect needed beside it, and one click fixes it. On the iPhone, the calendar says it stopped accepting the connection. iCloud asks for a fresh app password.
